Sagay panel begins probe into budget padding, meets Jibrin

The Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, led by Prof. Itse Sagay, on Wednesday, said it had begun “meeting” on the documents submitted to it on the budget padding scandal by leaders of the House of Representatives.

The Executive Secretary of PACAC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, said this after a meeting the presidential panel held in Abuja with a former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, who had submitted some documents to PACAC.

Gunmen in military uniform abduct three Lagos estate landlords

There is tension in New Haven Estate, Igbelaju, in the Iba area of Lagos State, after some gunmen in military uniform abducted three landlords in the estate.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the gunmen attacked the estate on Saturday and on Monday.

Two of the landlords were reportedly abducted while going to their workplaces.

It was gathered that in the attack on Saturday, a woman, identified only as Mrs. Nwoche, was abducted from her residence and had yet to be released.

Opposition party PDP has called for the resignation of President Buhari following the new statistics released Wednesday by the National Bureau of Statistics, indicating that Nigeria is currently experiencing economic recession. Brazil's Senate has voted to remove President Dilma Rousseff from office for manipulating the budget.
It puts an end to 13 years in power of her left-wing Workers' Party. Ms Rousseff denies the charges.
Sixty-one senators voted in favour of her impeachment and 20 against, meeting the two-thirds majority needed to remove her from the presidency.
Acting President Michel Temer will serve out Ms Rousseff's term, which ends on 1 January 2019.

According to International business site Bloomberg, Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has lost more than a third of his wealth this year alone. According to the article, Dangote has lost 35% of his wealth which sums up to $5.4 billion. The losses are attributed to commodities slump and the devaluation of the Naira in June. Doctors at Ho Chi Minh City’s Children’s Hospital, Vietnam has successfully removed the turtle-shell-like mole from the back of a 10-year old girl after a 3-hour surgery on Monday, August 29.

The hospital’s vice director, Dao Trung Hieu, said the girl, Tran Thi Ngoc Tham of Soc Trang province, who suffers from congenital melanocytic nevus has recovered after the surgery.

He said the mole weighs 1.05 kg and measures 22 cm in diameter. After its removal, doctors covered the area with skin grafted from the girl’s thigh. Six doctors and five medical workers were involved
