Dogara Urges FG To Increase Workers Salary

The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, on Sunday said that increasing workers’ salary had become necessary in view of the rising cost of living in the country.

The Lagos State Government has acquired five hectares of land at Igbodu community to serve as a base for security operatives in the Epe area.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Folami, said the base would be well equipped to check incessant attacks of kidnappers and other criminals in Epe and its environs.

Folami, who spoke at a press conference in Alausa, Ikeja, said, “The Lagos State Government is determined to arrest the wave of kidnapping in the Epe area. The hectares of land that the government acquired would allow security operatives to plan and effectively checkmate activities of kidnappers.”

Ikoyigate: DO NOT Make Public Your Findings, Former Minister Warns Osinbajo!!!

Former External Affairs Minister and Deputy Chairman 2014 National Conference Professor A. Bolaji Akinyemi has called on the Osinbajo Panel not to make public their findings on National Intelligence Agency (NIA)money discovered in Ikoyi.

Akinyemi in a statement on Sunday warned that the Osinbajo Panel should engage the services of an external intelligence officers as a Consultant and that ‘under no circumstances should the National Assembly be allowed to conduct hearings into the affair of the National Intelligence Agency NIA.

Traditional rulers from Okunland in Kogi have appealed for the unconditional release of the detained Administrator of Ijumu Local Government, Mr Taufiq Isa to allow for amicable resolution of an alleged feud between him and Sen. Dino Melaye.

Politics Nigeria learned that the politician was picked up by officers from the Kano state police command for inciting his supporters to stop the conduct of local government elections organized by the current governor of Jigawa state, Muhammad Badaru. The elections are scheduled to hold on July 1.

I have been following some pronouncements by the Emir of Kano of recent that border on Islamic religion and culture. What I will say is that Islamic position on issues is well entrenched in Islamic literature. This book here, The Message, is more than one thousand years old. In it, every subject on Islamic law is discussed. I want the Emir and others to put their minds at rest. Nobody can interpret or change Islamic law. The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, has disclosed that it generated N3.30 trillion in revenue for the government from taxes in 2016.

Twenty Die In Building Collapse

Twenty people died in the collapse of a residential building in the northern Colombian city of Cartagena, the mayor said on Twitter Saturday after a two-day rescue operation.

The tragedy occurred Thursday, when the six-story building came crashing down for reasons that are being investigated, the Red Cross said.

Emergency personnel saved 41 people from the rubble, 16 of them badly hurt.
