UK Deports Another Set Of Nigerians...

The United Kingdom has deported another 28 Nigerians from its country on Thursday for remaining in the country illegally.

The deportation came two days after Spain repatriated 23 Nigerians for immigration-related offences.

Sattahip police, Thailand were called to a deserted house after the owner of a seven year old Thai dog reported that a man had raped her pet. The dog owner Bang-orn Phumkaew called the cops after catching the 65 year old man completely naked with "Jao Jut", a Thai breed of dog.

The culprit "Chen" was caught having intercourse with the dog, on Wednesday, June 28.

Oshiomhole: Babangida owes Nigerians apology

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Adams Oshiomhole said yesterday that former Military President and restructuring advocate General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida owes the nation an apology for helping to bring it to its present level.
Oshiomhole also said that the clamour for diversification of the economy cannot succeed unless it begins with the oil and gas sector which, he said, employs about 40 percent of the working population.

UNILAG Invents New Method Of Diagnosing Malaria

University of Lagos, UNILAG said it has invented a new method of diagnosing malaria, following intensive research by its Department of Medical Microbiology and Parasitology.

Prof. Wellington Oyibo, the Director, Research and Innovation of the institution, made this known on Thursday in Lagos.

Oyibo, a lecturer in the department, said the university’s research on malaria testing without the use of blood was validated in 2016.

Evans asks court to order his release or arraigned

Suspected kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, has sued the Inspector-General of Police at the Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged violation of his fundamental rights.
He is praying the court to compel the police to charge him to court rather than detain him indefinitely.
In a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed on his behalf by a Lagos lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje,  the suspected kidnapper said his continued detention without trial was illegal.

CBN lifts forex market with $195m

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday intervened in the foreign exchange (forex) market with a  $195m  injection into key segments of the economy.
The forex inflow, which came on the first day of business after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, went to various segments of the inter-bank market.
The intervention was part of CBN’s plans to shore up the value of the naira against the dollar and achieve its exchange rate stability goal. The naira continued its stability in the forex market, closing at N370/$1 in the parallel market, from N520/$1 in February.

Gunmen have shot a top Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigator,  Mr. Austin Okwor.
The victim was said to be handling some “sensitive” cases, including those of some judicial officers.

PFN To Nnamdi Kanu: Do Not Heat Up Polity

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has advised Nnamdi Kanu and Pro-Biafra groups to settle down and work on dialogue rather than engaging in activities that could continue to “heat up the polity’’.

The Chairman of PFN, Enugu State Chapter, Rev. Godwin Madu, gave this advice shortly after a special prayer meeting for peace in the country on Wednesday.

Top EFCC Investigator Shot…

A top investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has escaped death by the whiskers when gunmen opened fire on him  in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Austin  Okwor, an operative in the Property Fraud Section of the EFCC Zonal office in Port Harcourt, had closed late for the day on June 24, and as he left office, he was suddenly accosted by a gang of hoodlums who opened fire on him, a statement by the anti-graft agency said.

Diezani ‘bribed’ INEC officials with N264m to rig polls – Witness

The Federal High Court in Lagos heard on Wednesday that two Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) employees, Christian Nwosu and Yisa Adegoyin, allegedly received N264million from former Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to rig the 2015 general elections.
A prosecution witness, Timothy Olaobaju, said the money was paid to Nwosu and Adedoyin in cash.
He stated these while being led in evidence by prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, in the trial of Nwosu and Tijani Inda Bashir before Justice Idris.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) accused the duo of receiving gratification from the former minister.

38 varsities hike fees: UNILAG from N14,500 to N63,500

At least 38 universities across the country have increased their tuition fees due to poor funding by federal and state governments.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr. Deji Omole, stated this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
The statement which assessed the two years of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, lamented that the government had made Nigerians poorer.
Omole said the public education was not taken seriously because “children of the rich and those in high offices” do not attend school in Nigeria.

57 Dead In US-Led Strikes On IS Syria Prison

US-led coalition air strikes on a jail run by the Islamic State group in eastern Syria killed at least 57 people, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Tuesday.

"The strikes hit an IS jail in Mayadeen at dawn on Monday, killing 42 prisoners and 15 jihadists," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP.

Report claims that women absorb and retain the DNA of every man they have unprotected sex with and they are genetically bonded forever

A new study found that women retain and carry living DNA from every man with whom they have unprotected sexual intercourse. The finding was made from the University of Seattle and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

It is not clear how solid these findings are but the study, which was focused on the female brain and genetics, found that 63% of women have brains that harbor DNA that originated from another individual.

Teenager plunged to her death due to 'poor English' of her bungee-jumping instructor

A teenager died because of the poor English of her bungee-jumping instructor, a court has heard.

Vera Mol, 17, was told "no jump" by her instructor but she thought the instructor said "now jump", so she plunged to her untimely death.

The sad incident occurred on the bridge of Cabezon de la Sal, located in the northern Spanish province of Cantabria back in 2015.
